[ASC-list] Off-topic, on-topic let's not worry too much

It's time for me to put on my hard hat and make an OFFICIAL LIST MODERATOR
DECREE.

We want more discussion not less.

But we'd like more discussion about science and science communication issues
and less grumbling about what is on or off topic.

If you feel that a thread is off-topic then please tell me in the first
instance - niall at byc.com.au. 

If you don't like my response then tell the list. 

I think it's better this way round - otherwise our more retiring members
might be inhibited from posting for fear of offending people - and that
would be a shame.

Chris shouldn't feel that he's been forced off the list.

I said yesterday, "The obesity messages are off-topic but harmlessly so.

Chris has offered them to us in measured doses - not spammed us with them."

My comments were intended to encourage him to keep posting - but in
moderation. I suspect that Peter Macinnis would welcome an edited
contribution from Chris for the Communicator.
