Unseen guardians will watch over countless aspects of society's safety, comfort, health and sustainability as a new technology revolution gathers pace.

The cutting edge of smart sensor technologies will be unveiled at an international scientific conference in Melbourne which starts next Monday, August 9, 2004.

At the 2004 Sir Mark Oliphant Conference on Converging Technologies for Agriculture and Environment, leading scientific experts from Australia and round the world will explore the coming trend in microsensor networks - for food, the environment, defence, safety and health.

The conference will be held from the Monday 9th to Thursday 12th August at
the Duxton Hotel, 328 Flinders Street, Melbourne, and at various research sites.
