Rare honour for fresh water expert
It is rare that an award winning wetland is named after you, but for one
Charles Sturt University (CSU) academic, it is a most appropriate
recognition of his contribution to the University and the environment.
This Thursday 13 May, the artificial wetlands that are integral to the
function of the University's environmentally sensitive Thurgoona Campus
in Albury, NSW, will be dedicated to CSU professorial associate and
eminent water ecologist Dr David Mitchell in a naming ceremony. Since
joining CSU in 1995, Dr Mitchell has helped design the wetlands, campus
grounds and other facets of the internationally recognised "greenfields"
site. The dedication ceremony will be held at 3pm in the CSU School of
Environmental & Information Sciences, CSU Thurgoona Campus.
Media note: Dr Mitchell will be available for interviews and pictures in
the Thurgoona Campus wetlands at 10am, this Thursday 13 May. Meet first
at the School of Environment & Information Sciences building, via
Elizabeth Mitchell Drive, Thurgoona.
