Conservation Council of WA presents, an ENVIRONMENT MATTERS event,

WA’s Mining Boom
Where Does it Leave The Environment?

The current mining boom in Western Australia is big news. It is
driving some sectors of the economy to unprecedented highs and making
millions for a number of Western Australians. But all this comes at a
cost to the environment.

So what will be the legacy of the mining boom?

The Conservation Council of WA presents three specialist speakers from
the Wildflower Society, Edith Cowan University and major mining
company BHP Billiton to explore the issues surrounding the costs and
potential benefits to WA's environment as a result of the mining boom.

Guest speakers include:
Gavin Price (or similar) – BHP Billiton
Rangelands Pastoral Lease Management by Mining Companies

Brian Moyle – Western Australian Wildflower Society
Midwest and Yilgarn Iron Ore Boom – Impacts on Biodiversity

Clint McCullough - ECU Centre for Excellence for Sustainable Mine Lakes
Pit Lakes - Liability or Opportunity?
