I have been asked to forward this notice to women in science
interested in practical action on climate change or in the government
sponsored forum. Contact details are included in the advert. Regards,
Cathy

Want to do something more for the environment and not sure what?

JOIN 1 Million Women(see www.1millionwomen.com.au)... it's free and
it's a campaign of daughters, mothers, sisters and grandmothers who
are committed to inspiring climate action.

Their aim is to inspire 1 million women of Australia to take practical
action on climate change and collectively cut 1 million tonnes of CO2
pollution. The idea is that women make most of the practical buying
and organising decisions in the household so are best placed to
actually get things done. If 1 million women join and they each cut
their household emissions by 1 tonne / yr, that's a million tonnes
down. Over 11,000 women have already joined the campaign. Helpful
information about what you can do is on the site.

.......Want to come to the launch of the campaign and hear Penny Wong
in the run up to Copenhagen?

The Federal Government has sponsored a ‘Women in Climate Change’
national forum series around Australia to inspire and engage women
everywhere in reducing our carbon footprint.

The forum on 3rd December (scroll down for details) in Melbourne is
the official launch of the ‘1 Million Women’ campaign in Victoria.
More than 500 women are attending but some seats are still available.

1 Million Women Campaign presents - Women in Climate Change, a
national forum series.
Sydney 20 Nov, Brisbane 24 Nov, Melbourne 3 Dec

JOIN US at these special events to hear leading women of Australia
offer their perspectives for climate policy, practical programs and
activities that will mobilise women from all backgrounds and cultures
to join in cutting CO2 pollution.

•
How do we successfully change deeply embedded behaviour?
•
How can women harness their power to lead and drive change?
•
How can marketers effectively reach female consumers?
•
What do women want from policy makers?
•
What tools can be used by individuals, organisations and communities
to just ‘get on with it’?
We will explore these issues through the lens of women in society.

Share in a dynamic and fresh dialogue ahead of the UN Climate Change
Summit in Copenhagen in December and gain the tools to empower you and
your organisation to take action now.

Special Entertainment: Award-winning singer songwriters Melinda
Schneider (Sydney & Melbourne) & Katie Noonan in Brisbane

The series is for everyone - women and men – who need to drive change
in their organisations and communities.

The 1 Million Women campaign (www.1millionwomen.com.au) is delighted
to offer early-bird discount seats for campaign members. But you need
to be quick because the special rate of $99 GST incl. is a limited
offer.

The normal price of individual seats is $132 GST incl. There also are
great corporate table packages that we’d love you to highlight to your
employer and work colleagues.

The start of Women in Climate Change (WICC) coincides with the biggest
events of the decade for the carbon agenda, with the emissions trading
scheme being debated in Canberra during November and the decisive UN
Climate Summit in Copenhagen in December.

We hope you will join us.
