How fast broadband is changing Australia
June 21, 2010
How fast broadband is changing the lives, loves, careers, shopping habits, businesses, attitudes and dreams of Australians is the focus of a major national roundtable involving some of the country’s top commentators.
The roundtable “Australia’s Broadband Future” will be hosted by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation (CCI) in Brisbane at 4.30pm on July 5, 2010, as the highlight of CCI 2.0, the leading forum on creativity and innovation in Australia.
Participants in the roundtable include:
• Senator Kate Lundy, ACT Labor Senator & Australian Ambassador for Gov 2.0
• Nicholas Gruen, Chair of the Gov 2.0 taskforce and CEO of Lateral Economics
• Yiying Lu, Designer of the Twitter Over Capacity Fail Whale logo
• Terry Cutler, Principal, Cutler & Company, and head of the Cutler review on innovation.
• Peter Coroneos, CEO, Internet Industry Association
• The roundtable is chaired by Emma Tom, national journalist and opinion columnist
The panellists will explore the question “How will Australian society be changed by fast broadband?”
The roundtable is part of a two-day forum hosted by CCI which features the Centre’s cutting edge research into Australian innovation and creativity. Day One (July 5) includes some of CCI’s emerging scholars describing their latest work and the Broadband Round Table.
Day Two (July 6) will explore vital issues such as whether Australia has the critical skills to prosper in the Digital Age, ways to use the internet to enhance Australian democracy and governance, and the latest research on how Australians are using the Internet.
Where: Level 4, Z2 Block, The Glasshouse, Kelvin Grove Campus, Queensland University of Technology.
When: Monday July 5 and Tuesday July 6, 2010.
