[ASC-media] Science videos on enabling technologies wanted - funding available [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Funding available for video content

 

Who we are

 

The National Enabling Technologies Strategy's Public Awareness and
Community Engagement (NETS-PACE) section of the Department of
Innovation, Industry Science and Research (DIISR) is responsible for the
distribution of factual information and encouraging community debate on
the development and implementation of enabling technologies (defined
primarily as nanotechnology and biotechnology). 

 

We are seeking video content for our information outreach service,
techNyou (www.technyou.edu.au <http://www.technyou.edu.au/> ) and
youtube channel, which would be promoted over the section's
tweetingtechno twitter service, and the Talking Technology facebook
group. 

 

Purpose

 

The aim of these videos is to increase awareness and public debate about
enabling technology issues. The videos should be highly engaging,
informative, and thought-provoking.

Content

 

The video would be short 2-10 minute presentations or discussions which
cover either the science or the social issues emerging from these fields
targeted at a lay audience.

 

Topics of the sort we'd like to see include:

 

*	Summary of the GM foods debate, 
*	The Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) risks associated with
nanotechnology, 
*	An introduction to nanotechnology, what current products it is
found in and why, 
*	An introduction to synthetic biology and HSE issues relating to
it 
*	Postulations on what the future maybe like following the
development of biotechnology and/or nanotechnology, 
*	The moral and ethical issues of transhumanism, and the arguments
for/against the movement,

 

This list is not exhaustive, but is indicative of the range of issues
we'd like to see covered, other topic areas will be considered.

 

Details of funding

 

Applicants must have an Australian Business Number (ABN).

 

Applications must be sent to Robert.thomas at innovation.gov.au
<mailto:Robert.thomas at innovation.gov.au>  titled "NETS-PACE Video: (your
name)"

 

Funding support come three level of support with different levels of
documentation required: 

 

Small: funding up to $550 (incl GST)

 

Required information: 

 

*	Up to 500 words for each proposed video with a breakdown of what
the funds will be used for included. 

 

*	Examples of previous science communications work is recommended
but not required.  

 

Medium: funding $550-$2200 (incl GST)

 

Required information: 

 

*	Up to 500 words for each proposed video 

 

*	Proposed budget for the project. 

 

*	CV with examples of previous science communications work.  

 

Large: funding $2200-$11000 (incl GST)

 

Required information: 

 

*	Up to 500 words for each proposed video 

 

*	Budget for the project with supporting quotes 

 

*	CV with examples of previous science communications work.  

 

We may require additional information  after your initial application.

Existing Videos

 

NETS-PACE is happy share existing videos of high quality content
covering the field of enabling technologies through its online groups.
These videos may be favoured on the technyou youtube channel, linked to
on the technyou website and promoted over the technyou facebook page and
twitter account. 

 

This will be done free of charge and all material copyright will remain
with the producer.        

          

Other Opportunities

 

With your involvement in this project you details will be recorded and
you may be invited to participate in future webinars or NETS-PACE
