The ECU Joondalup Science Experience for Years 9 and 10
TSE applications are now open for the 2012 programme, January 17-19 at ECU Joondalup. A 3-day taste of life as a uni science student, including hands-on practical workshops, mini-lectures and more! Open to any interested student currently in Years 9 or 10 (i.e. going into Years 10 or 11 next year). No tests, interviews or previous high marks needed - just a keen interest in science.
Apply at www.scienceexperience.com.au<http://www.scienceexperience.com.au> ASAP, places can fill fast!

Many thanks to everyone who offered to participate in our women's health study concerning metals exposure - the researchers have been overwhelmed with responses and all places have been filled. Thanks for supporting WA science!
We are also seeking participants for the following studies. Please spread the word and ask anyone who's interested or has questions to contact the researchers directly.

Air quality and men's health study (ECU, UWA and WA Centre for Healthy Ageing)
As part of this study into the effects of air pollution on the health of older men in the Perth metro region, we need adult volunteers to house some air monitoring equipment on their property for up to two weeks commencing January next year. No work is required, information sheet with photos of the equipment is attached.
For further info or to register your interest, contact Anna-Lena Arnold at anna-lena.arnold at uwa.edu.au<mailto:anna-lena.arnold at uwa.edu.au> or on 6488 8178.

Children's exposure to dust (PM10) and metals (ECU, ChemCentre, BHP and UQ)
Families throughout Perth with children aged 7-12 years are needed for this study into how much dust children are exposed to, and whether they are also exposed to metals. Child participants wear a small air sampler with pump for 24 hours, provide a urine and hair sample and fill out a questionnaire. Information sheet attached. We need lots more participants for this study, please consider joining in and spread the word as far as you can!
