Greetings, Science Fans!
The next speaker in our free Seminar Series is Associate Professor Mark Lund, from right here in ECU's School of Natural Sciences, this Friday May 31 at 3.30pm in room 19.141 (Building 19 of our Joondalup campus, map available upon request).
A/Prof Lund will speak about the aquatic ecology of mine pit lakes - the deep water-filled voids left by open cut mining, often containing acids and metals - plus their eventual rehabilitation.
No need to register attendance, but a courtesy message to (08) 6304 5116 would be appreciated for catering/venue purposes.

Here's an updated schedule for the rest of the year:
August 2: ECU chemistry lecturer Dr Magda Wajrak
August 16: Ania Stasinska from the University of Western Australia (UWA), speaking on pregnant women's exposure to PBDEs
August 30: ECU environmental scientist and Head of School, Associate Professor Andrea Hinwood, speaking on children's exposure to PM10 in metals in WA
September 13: Dr Bonnie Laverock from UWA, speaking on marine sediment microbial ecology
September 27: ECU PhD student Meenu Vitarana, speaking about lichens as pollution biomonitors
October 25: ECU PhD student Tim Doherty

Hope to see you at ECU!
